Microangiopathy:
The role of microangiopathy and the resulting nerve hypoxia in producing diabetic neuropathy has been receiving increasing attention. Patients with severe progressive diabetic peripheral neuropathy, despite good blood glucose control, have shown small vessel disease in the neural tissue.
Endothelial hyperplasia and capillary obstruction are more common in diabetic patients with peripheral neuropathy than in those without this complication and in both micro angiopathy is more common than in non controls.
